Campaign Story
About the project
In the Nagarkurnool and Wanaparthy district of Telangana children are dropping out of school and are involved in painting, construction, cleaning and electrical work. Girl children are married off over concerns for their safety or to reduce family’s economic burden. Children’s childhood and future is lost.
Making a difference
The project works at changing attitude towards preventing practices of child labor and child marriage. Children’s families also receive support through being connected to Job Cards, Public Distribution System and other government schemes to make them financially stronger. Anganwadi centers were monitored and parents were sensitized on the importance of continuity of education. Child labor was identified and children were mainstreamed in school. Life skill modules were implemented at Children’s Collectives.
